A shy Shark ... it wasn't until 2003, the first video images of a shark swimming freely under natural circumstances were filmed.

About the Greenland shark

Imagine an enourmous artic fish weighing up to 200kg. Imagine then that it only live under extreme conditions 600-2000m below the surface in the Ocean sourounding Greenland.

And then imagine, that we only now are discovering the great possibilities with this artic animal .

That is the GREENLAND SHARK.

A FASCINATING SHARK which is the longest living
vertebrate living on the planet and is in size as a carnivorous shark only surpassed by the Great White Shark. Still our knowledge about the Greenland Shark is only now beginning to take of.

But we keep getting wiser.

For us the Greenland shark is a shark with meaning and significance.
For us, for Greenland and for our customers.

IN GREENLAND the shark is called Eqaiussauq and has been known on the largest island in the World through the history.

Today the Greenland Shark however causes some annoyment among fishermens. This is due to the large population of the shark in the artic ocean, which can disturb and even destroy catches of for instance Halibuts.

THIS GAVE THE idea to the Greenland Company. For us it isn't about capturing as many sharks as possible.

On the contrary.

We want to succeed in using the great qualities of the Greenland Shark - and at the same time ensuring a sustainable enviroment.

In the menu to the left you can read alot more about the possibilities with the Greenland shark and below you can download a fact sheet as well.
